My name is Sara Zappa, and I’m a therapist who is passionate about helping young adults move through the world with greater self-compassion and understanding of themselves. Holding a BSW from Stony Brook University and an MSW from NYU, I have long had a focus on how I can offer support to people struggling. I’ve had the opportunity to do so across a variety of settings, including foster care, hospitals, and private practice. My experience includes working with clients navigating depression, anxiety, trauma-related concerns, and severe mental illness. I have a particular interest in helping clients improve their relationships by working on better communication, conflict resolution, boundary-setting, and all the other messy, wonderful, meaningful things that come up in our relationships! I draw from various evidence-based practices to help clients better understand the root of their experiences and respond to challenges more productively. I care deeply about providing a nonjudgmental space where clients feel met with warmth, curiosity, and empathy. I love to read (especially classics), walk around the city, and give pets to as many dogs as possible!
