Hi, I’m Pilar, an Associate Professional Clinical Counselor. I earned my Master of Science in Mental Health Counseling at Suffolk University in Boston and have since gained experience in nonprofit community mental health and outpatient clinic settings with youth, adults, couples, and families. I specialize in supporting individuals navigating challenges related to serious mental illness, complex trauma, and interpersonal difficulties. My approach is grounded in evidence-based and strengths-based practices, with trauma-informed, inclusive care at the core of my work. I use an eclectic approach, integrating dialectical behavioral therapy and trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy with interpersonal and narrative therapy approaches to tailor treatment to each person’s individual needs. I am dedicated to creating a warm, non-judgemental, and person-centered space where those I work with feel empowered and supported. I believe in honoring each person’s unique story and strive to create a compassionate space to explore challenges while recognizing strengths. Outside of my time at Amae, I enjoy trying new restaurants, new recipes, and hiking.
