Hi, I'm Dr. Ruth D'Cunha, MD, MPH, a psychiatrist at Amae. I'm also a fellow in Public Psychiatry at Columbia University, so when I'm not at Amae, I'm usually at the New York State Psychiatric Institute in the Columbia Medical Center. I have experience working in a broad range of settings, including psychiatric emergency rooms, inpatient units, substance use programs, correctional facilities, assertive community treatment (ACT), and street psychiatry teams. I'm passionate about compassionate and innovative care for patients with serious mental illness (SMI). I have a strong background in bioethics and public health, with the goal of developing more ethical and accessible systems of care for vulnerable and underserved populations. Clinically, I treat all psychiatric conditions in adolescents and adults, with a particular focus and research interest in psychotic disorders and first-episode psychosis. I take a holistic, person-centered approach and work closely with patients and their families to develop individualized treatment plans that reflect their unique goals and needs. I look forward to working with you!
