Hi, I’m Emily Howland, MHA, MPA. I’m the Regional Director of Operations at Amae Health, where I support our West Coast clinics and the incredible teams that make our work possible. I have dual master’s degrees in Healthcare Administration and Public Administration from the University of Utah and have spent the last 10+ years working across hospital systems, outpatient care, and community health settings. My experience spans clinical operations, revenue cycle, workforce development, and system-wide change efforts—always with a focus on improving access, quality, and collaboration. I’m especially passionate about building thoughtful, mission-driven care models that actually work—for both patients and staff. I’ve partnered closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams in complex environments, including unionized systems and safety-net care. Before joining Amae, I helped lead operations at Alameda Health Medical Group, a large physician organization serving the East Bay’s public healthcare system. Prior to that, I have worked in the healthtech and startup space, where I focused on scaling clinical programs and improving patient outreach at early-stage companies. That experience gave me a deep appreciation for innovation, adaptability, and building systems from the ground up. At my core, I believe healthcare should be dignified, human, and grounded in trust. No one should feel alone or be left behind—part of the human experience is showing up for one another and building each other up. I’m driven by the idea that our work is bigger than any one person or title. As one of my favorite quotes says, “The higher purpose of my life is not the song and dance or the acclaim, but to rise up, to pull up others, and leave the world and industry a better place.” I try to bring that spirit into everything I do. When I’m not working, I’m usually planning my next weekend trip, testing a new recipe, or spending time with the people I love. I’m a Bay Area native, a devoted farmers market regular, and always down to try a new brunch spot with friends.
