Hi, I'm Anum Khan MD. I completed my medical education from Allama Iqbal Medical College, Pakistan. I completed my psychiatry residency training from New York Medical College/Westchester Medical Center and Fellowship from Columbia University Medical Center, NY. My areas of interest include women's mental health, social determinants of health, wrap-around care for severe mental illness (SMI), trauma-informed care and global mental health. I worked in the Emergency department in NY for two years before moving to California. During this time, I have seen how individuals with severe mental health illness are overrepresented in populations experiencing homelessness and substance use disorders. As an immigrant, I feel interested in ways mental health conditions are perceived and treated across different cultures. I use these experiences to provide empathic, individualized care and help people understand how experiences can shape thoughts, emotions and subsequently environments. I am currently employed at Stanford University School of Medicine as a Clinical Assistant Professor. When not at work, I like to bake, read and go on hikes.
